The Alabaster Box - Original
From Matthew 26:7, Matthew 2:15, and Revelation 4:8c, executed in 6th Century Roman Half-uncial script on a piece of 18” x 24” Strathmore. This beige-colored paper is characteristically reminiscent of sheepskin, evoking the materials used for lettering the ancient writs in the early centuries following the Savior’s death and resurrection.
The piece is rendered in alabaster white, brown, gold leaf, and sepia India inks. It is double-matted with a white cream beveled lining and a dark cream perimeter, accented by a sepia-toned beveled edge. The artwork is encased in a simple 2.0” black wooden frame, 22” x 28," to highlight the subtle details of the writ. A Museum Glass covering completes the presentation with clarity and protection.
