Luke II - Original
From Luke II:1–7, the piece is executed in the difficult 15th Century German Gothic script on 18” x 24” Strathmore. The paper is characteristically reminiscent of sheepskin, evoking the traditional materials used for lettering the ancient writs.
Rendered in alabaster white, brown, gold leaf, green, crimson, and sepia India inks, the artwork features a 2’ x 20’ painting on the right that reflects a traditional Southern United States Christmas design: Magnolia blooms and leaves intertwined with holly branches and red berries.
The piece is encased in an ornate gilded gold and black wooden frame and finished with a Museum Glass covering to preserve and protect its detail.
