Description

‘Still Waters’ is from Psalm 23 and executed in 6th Century Roman Half-uncial script on a piece of 18” x 24” Strathmore. This beige-colored paper is reminiscent of sheepskin, similar to those used for lettering ancient writs in the early centuries following the Savior’s death and resurrection.

It is executed using alabaster white, brown, forest green, gold leaf, grass green, and sepia India inks. Near the top center, the phrase “Still Waters” is lettered to resemble water lily leaves, designed to cover the iridescent blue pond waters. Two water lilies are shown—one painted on the left and the other on the right.

The artwork is slightly raised on thin foam board and mounted on a black suede leather mat, reminiscent of how antiquities are presented. It is encased in a mildly ornate gold-edged and black wooden 22” x 28” frame with Museum Glass covering to accentuate the writ’s subtleties.
